How it works and FAQ
How it works
The OTT platform RFP template is a free tool that builds a list of vendor questions for your launch and turns each vendor's written answers into a weighted scorecard. It has 44 neutral questions in up to 10 sections. You see only the sections that fit what you are launching.
- Step 1: pick who you are and what you are launching (on-demand, live, 24/7 FAST channels, TV and mobile apps), and name up to four vendors.
- Step 2: mark each question as must-have, nice-to-have or skip, then score each vendor's answer: 0 no, 1 partly, 2 yes, 3 yes and shown in a reference.
- Step 3: see the leading vendor, a score out of 100 for each vendor, and every must-have scored no or partly.
Score = the sum of (weight x score) divided by the sum of (weight x 3), times 100. A must-have has weight 3, a nice-to-have 1, and a skipped question 0. Section scores use the same formula inside each section.
- An answer you have not scored counts as 0, and the scorecard tells you how many are left.
- The tool does not rate any vendor. Every vendor column starts blank and every score is yours.
- It is a general template. Adapt it to your own procurement rules. It is not legal or procurement advice.
What should an OTT platform RFP include?
An OTT platform RFP should cover the company and its support, commercials and contract terms, the content library and CMS, live, 24/7 linear and FAST channels, apps and devices, monetization, security and rights, and migration and launch. Sports rights holders should add pay-per-view, blackout and replay questions. Ask for written answers so every vendor responds to the same list.
What questions should I ask an OTT platform vendor?
Start with the questions that are hardest to change after you sign: how the price changes as your audience, library and live hours grow (in writing), the exit terms and how you export your content and subscriber data, who builds and submits your TV apps and under whose store account, what viewers see if a live feed or a 24/7 schedule fails, and which customers like you will take a reference call.
How do I score OTT vendors fairly?
Send every vendor the same questions, score only written answers, and agree the must-haves before the first demo. Give a 3 only when a reference customer confirms the answer. Then look at the must-have gaps before the total, because one missing must-have can matter more than a high score.
Does the template favor Revidd?
No. The tool never names, scores or describes any vendor, including Revidd. It also includes questions where another kind of vendor is often the better fit, such as who negotiates distribution deals with third-party FAST services.
Is my scorecard saved or sent anywhere?
It is saved in your own browser so it is still there when you come back. It is not sent to Revidd or any server, and "Clear all" removes it.
Is the template free, and why does the report ask for an email?
The template and the scorecard are free to use on the page with no account. The full report (the RFP questions to copy, a scorecard CSV, and print or PDF) is also free, but asks for a work email first. The email goes to the Revidd team, who may contact you. Your scores are not sent with it.
