Yes. One platform can run your on-demand library, your live events and a 24/7 FAST channel from the same CMS and the same apps. That is how Revidd works. If you are weighing VOD, live and FAST in one platform against three separate vendors, here is what you get, what you do not, and when separate tools are the smarter buy.
Short answer: Yes, with one clear limit. On Revidd you manage on-demand video, live streams and your own FAST channel in one CMS and show all three in your own branded apps. Revidd runs your channel in your apps. It does not place your channel on other companies' FAST services. If that kind of reach is your main goal, a distribution specialist is the better fit.
Can one platform run VOD, live and FAST?
Yes. Revidd runs on-demand video, live events and 24/7 FAST channels from one CMS, so you do not stitch together separate vendors. Your team works in one place. Your viewers find everything in one set of apps, under your brand.
Revidd powers streaming that reaches more than 38 million viewers and 5.2 million monthly active viewers across 15 countries.
What do VOD, live and FAST each do for a broadcaster?
They are three different jobs. Most broadcasters end up wanting all three, because each one brings viewers in a different way.
Type | What it does | Example | How people watch |
|---|---|---|---|
VOD | Lets viewers pick a title | Back catalog, series, movies | Any time, their choice |
Live | Streams an event as it happens | A match, a service, a news special | At the time of the event |
FAST | Runs a scheduled channel that is always on | A channel built from your library | Tune in and lean back |
For the longer story on how FAST differs from on-demand, see our guide to FAST versus traditional OTT.
Why run all three from one CMS?
Because your content is the same content. The episode that sits in your on-demand library is the same episode that fills a slot on your channel. When the pieces live in separate systems, someone has to copy files, match metadata and fix mismatches by hand.
One library. Add a title once. Use it on demand and in the channel schedule.
Live inside the schedule. Place a live event in the FAST Program Manager like any other program, with a Rescue Playlist as backup.
One set of apps. Viewers get on-demand, live and your channel in the same app.
One team and one vendor. One place to learn, one place to ask for help.
Our guide to adding live events to a FAST channel shows how that works step by step.
What does FAST inside your own apps mean?
It means the channel is yours. You build the schedule in the FAST Program Manager. A program guide shows viewers what is on. The channel sits in your apps next to your on-demand shelves and live events. You can also add SCTE-35 markers for your ad partners.
It also means what it does not mean. Revidd does not place your channel on third-party FAST services for you. Getting carried there is a separate job, and companies like Amagi and Wurl specialize in it. You can read more on the FAST channels page.
Which screens show all three?
Revidd builds native apps for Roku, Samsung, LG, Apple TV, Fire TV, Android TV, iPhone, iPad, Android and web. That is 50+ device endpoints from one integration. Revidd delivers apps in as little as 1 to 2 weeks plus app-store review. The review is outside our control.
When are separate tools the better choice?
One platform is not always the right answer. Pick separate tools if any of these describe you:
You want your channel carried on other FAST services. A distribution specialist does that work. Revidd does not.
You only need one of the three. If you stream one live event a year and have no library, a simple live tool may be enough.
Your current setup works. If your team is happy and your apps are doing their job, switching is real work. Do not move for the sake of it.
You need to make the live show. Cameras, a studio and a production crew are a separate job. You bring the live feed.
You need a broadcast master control room or a TV headend. This is streaming delivery, not that.
You can also mix. Some teams run their own apps on one platform and use a distribution specialist beside it for reach on other services.
What changes for your team week to week?
Less copying and less guessing. You add a new title once and decide where it shows up. You update the channel schedule when the lineup changes. You drop a live event into the guide when the date is set. And you check the same apps your viewers use, instead of checking three.
The work that stays with you is the work only you can do: choosing the programs, clearing the rights, and promoting the channel to your audience.
Six questions to ask any vendor
Do my on-demand, live and FAST items sit in one library, or three?
Can I put a live event inside the channel schedule?
Does the channel play in my own apps, or only on someone else's service?
Which screens are covered, and who handles app-store submission?
Is it the same team and the same system for all three?
If I leave, what happens to my library and my audience?
How do you start?
Start small and check the basics first.
Count what you have: hours of video, live events per year, and the screens your viewers use.
Check your rights. Linear, ad-supported use of a library is not always covered by the deal you have for on-demand.
Pick one channel idea, such as a theme built from your best-loved titles.
See the CMS with your own content in it. Request a demo.
You do not need an in-house engineering team. Our platform overview shows what is included.
FAQ
Do I need separate vendors for VOD, live and FAST?
Not necessarily. Revidd runs all three from one CMS. You may still want a separate vendor for carriage on other FAST services, or for producing live shows.
Can I schedule a live event inside a FAST channel?
Yes. You can place live streams in the FAST Program Manager schedule alongside library content. A Rescue Playlist fills gaps if a feed drops or an event ends early.
Will Revidd get my channel onto other FAST services?
No. Revidd runs your channel in your own apps. Distribution to other services is handled by specialists, and each service decides for itself what it carries.
Which devices can show on-demand, live and FAST?
Roku, Samsung, LG, Apple TV, Fire TV, Android TV, iPhone, iPad, Android and web.
How long does it take to launch?
Revidd delivers apps in as little as 1 to 2 weeks plus app-store review. Your content and rights usually take longer than the apps.
What if I only have a small library?
Start with on-demand and live, and add a channel when you have enough hours to fill a schedule without constant repeats.
